Jack Kemp, in trying to claim the title of "True Liberal," made thestrongest arguments anyone could ever make for what I have been contendingfor years as he tried to dub and label the Dole/Kemp Republican ticketas true liberals (see Conservatism vs Liberalism in these Journals of Discourses). But just as the "Born-Again Christians" are really "Born-Again FanaticFundamentalist Antichristians," Jack Kemp and Bob Dole are phony liberals.Their rhetoric is was that of a die-hard conservative beginning to understandChristianity.
In all fairness to Jack Kemp or any politician for that matter, putJack Kemp or most people in a political situation where their popularityis determined by the votes they garner, and the worse side of man surfacesas he lies, distorts to truth and appeals to people's fears. What happenedto George Bush's "kinder, gentler nation."
A comment about Bob Dole's acceptance speech 8/15/96 in San Diego, itwas George Bush, the last Republican President, who gave us the "new worldorder" which Bob Dole railed so much against. Republicans, want everythingtheir own way but since they have no blueprints, game plans or model torefer to help people know what they are saying, they rail against the waypeople implement their vague proposed ideas.
